On this date in the year 1022 (Dec. 28th), 13 (or 14) “heretics” were burned at the stake in Orleans, France. Contemporary sources record that their beliefs/practices included: celibacy, vegetarianism, rejection of the sacraments, denial of the resurrection, and denial of the virgin birth. (Engraving by Jan Luiken for the “Martyrs Mirror.”)
