Happy birthday, Vida Dutton Scudder (Dec. 15, 1861 – Oct. 9, 1954)! #Episcopalian. #Socialist. Social Gospel activist. Educator. Writer. Longtime literatu…re professor at Wellesley College. Later in life she became a pacifist, joining the Fellowship of Reconciliation in 1923. From 1919 until her death, Vida was in a committed relationship with fellow writer Florence Converse. They shared a house together in Wellesley, Massachusetts, at 45 Leighton Road, and are both buried in the Newton Cemetery, Newton, Massachusetts.
