Happy birthday, Lucretia Coffin Mott (Jan. 3, 1793 – Nov. 11, 1880)! #Quaker minister. #Pacifist. #Suffragist. #Abolitionist. Orator. Teacher. Helped found the Philadelphia Female Anti-Slavery Society in 1833. Founder and president of the Northern Association for the Relief and Employment of Poor Women. One of the key organizers in 1848 of the historic women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York. First president of the American Equal Rights Association in 1866. Helped found the Free Religious Association in 1867, along with other liberals of the day. Lucretia was a giant in Quaker history, and a woman far ahead of her time. Born in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Died of pneumonia in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania. Buried in Fair Hill Burial Ground, 9th & Cambria Streets, North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
