Happy birthday, Myrtilla Miner (March 4, 1815 – Dec. 17, 1864)! ‪#‎Abolitionist‬. Educator. In 1851 she organized the first school for African American girls, which came to be known as the Miner Normal School. The building at the school’s most recent location (2565 Georgia Ave., NW, Washington, D.C.) is on the National Register of Historic Places. Buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, 3001 R Street NW, Washington, D.C.
