Happy birthday, Inez Haynes Irwin (March 2, 1873 – Sept. 30, 1970)! ‪#‎Feminist‬. ‪#‎Suffragist‬. Journalist. (Often published under the name Inez Haynes Gillmore.) Member of the National Women’s Party. Had a reputation as a “rebellious and daring woman,” but referred to herself as “the most timid of created beings.” President of the Authors Guild. Fiction editor of “The Masses” magazine. Author of “Angel Island” (1914), a feminist fantasy about a group of men stranded on an island occupied by winged women. Author of “Angels and Amazons: A Hundred Years of American Women” (1933). Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Died in Scituate, Massachusetts at the age of 97.
