Happy birthday, Charles Lenox Remond (Feb. 1, 1810 – Dec. 22, 1873)! ‪#‎Abolitionist‬. Orator. Agent of the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society. Associate of William Lloyd Garrison and Frederick Douglass. Hair fashion innovator (he came from a family of hairdressers). In 1830, at the Negro National Convention, Remond and Douglass put forward a resolution proposing that Blacks should leave “en masse” any church that “discriminated against them in seating or at communion table.” Buried in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem, Massachusetts.
