Happy birthday, Sybil Morrison (Jan. 5, 1893 – 1984)! ‪#‎Suffragist‬.‪#‎Pacifist‬. Early member of the Peace Pledge Union, a British pacifist organization. Member of War Resisters International. Member of the Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom (WILPF). In 1940, after delivering an anti-war speech at London’s “Speakers Corner,” she was sentenced to a month in Holloway Prison. Advocate for legislation on assault against children. Advocate for support of unmarried mothers. Advocate for equal rights and equal pay for women. Sybil led an openly lesbian lifestyle, and for a time was known as “the most famous dyke in London.” During the 1930s she had a relationship with fellow suffragist Dorothy Evans. Towards the end of her life she shared a home with fellow pacifist (and lesbian) Myrtle Solomon.
