Historian. “The Father of African-American History.” A founder in 1916 of the “Journal of Negro History.” Regular columnist for Marcus Garvey’s weekly paper “Negro World.” Author of “African Myths and Folk Tales” (1928) and “The Mis-Education of the Negro” (1933), among many other works. Buried in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Suitland, Maryland.
