Happy 74th birthday, Elizabeth Johnson (born Dec. 6, 1941)! ‪#‎Catholic‬. ‪#‎Feminist‬. Theologian. Professor at Fordham University in the Bronx. Has clashed repeatedly with Catholic church leaders, including Pope Ratzinger. Author of “She Who Is: The Mystery of God in Feminist Theological Discourse” (1992), “The Church Women Want: Catholic Women in Dialogue” (2002), and “Quest for the Living God: Mapping Frontiers in the Theology of God” (2007), among other works. In 1987, she was interrogated by a roomful of cardinals who were unhappy with an article she’d written about Mary. She later commented: “I kept thinking that in another century, they would be lighting the fires outside.”
